The owners of Renaissance Golf have generously given courtesy times from 1200 on Sunday the 23rd July to East Lothian Juniors, so that a Match can be played against a combined Team of Juniors from North Florida and Longniddry.* (See previous news item.) The League and the Florida organisers will fund a BBQ (cost £20) after the Match for all 24 players, whilst watching the final round of the Open Championship on TV. The Team for East Lothian will be finalised after Match Day 6 at Kilspindie on the 16th July. The leading players in the Orders of Merit, both Scratch and Handicap, will be selected, and the winning Team (or the runners-up if Longniddry win) in the final of the County Cup on the 29th June at Longniddry will also qualify to play. Any other spaces may be filled by reference to the results of the 2016 Championships at Haddington. As Longniddry players will be playing with Florida against the League, they can't play for the ELJG League Team! Convenors and Parents who wish to attend, and enjoy the BBQ and Open Golf, should contact the League Secretary.

Clara Young, of North Berwick Golf Club, and a former ELJGL and Scottish Champion, has won the prestigious St Rule Trophy at St Andrews New and Old Courses with these sensational scores listed below. Report here. In the following week, Clara lost narrowly by 2 holes in the final of the Scottish Ladies Championship after coming from 5 down to all square with 3 holes to go. Report here. Great form shown by Clara resulting in her selection for the Scottish Team for the European Ladies Team Championships in Portugal in July. Well done Clara. Grant Forrest, another former ELJGL Player and Scottish Champion, had his highest finish on the Challenge Tour with a T4 place including a last round of 64 and we wish Grant success in his quest of a full European Tour card this year.
