East Lothian is one of the best regions for golf in Scotland, with 22 courses offering choice to golfers of all standards and tastes. Three are many famous old courses including Muirfield, Gullane, Dunbar and North Berwick. East Lothian also boasts the oldest course in the word in Musselburgh Old. Recent additions to East Lothian’s courses include Archerfield, Renaissance and Craigielaw. Most course offer year-round golf to members and visitors and many have facilities and competitions for young golfers of all ages and abilities.
Pupils from many of East Lothian’s schools play golf, both for fun and in competitive competitions. I addition, the Scottish Golf Union’s clubgolf programme is particularly strong in the county.
