Connor Wilson competed in the 72 hole Scottish Mens Open Strokeplay at Gleneagles. Despite a great 68 in round 1, Connor missed the 36 hole cut. Carys Irvine won the ESGGA Autumn Meeting at Falkirk GC. Grace Crawford was T1 and Fergus Brown T4 in the Wee Wonders 11-12 Grand Final at St Andrews. Aidan Lawson was 3rd in the 9-10s. On the same day the SGF held an event at Torwoodlee and Jake Johnston, Rory McClafferty and Ru Clubb all did well. Former EL Juniors Rob Paterson and Jack Rogan finished 12th and 13th in the 72 hole North of Scotland Championship at Nairn. Liam Currid finished 2nd with 2 rounds of 70 at Duff House Royal in the Scottish Junior Tour. David Rudd finished T10 and Rob Paterson 14th in the Northeast Open Strokeplay at Aboyne. Neil Canavan has won the Kilspindie Junior Club Championship by defeating Aaron Hall in the semis and then Connor Currie in the final. In the British Boys Cammy Gallagher missed the cut but Connor Wilson T22 made it into the Matchplay but he lost in the last 32. There were only 12 Scots in the field of 252. In the British Girls Hannah Darling was one of only 4 Scots in the field of 142 and made the cut in tied 15th place but lost in the last 16. Ru Clubb, aged 9, of Gifford and Longniddry, has won the American Golf Junior Championship at Leven Links and will compete in the UK final. David Rudd scored a first round 66 in the Leven Gold Medal and finished 11th in the 72 hole event. The Scottish Boys U14/U12 (including 10 of our Players) at Turnhouse, has finished. Josh Beveridge was T24, with Andrew Hendry, Valdemar Hundeboll and Harry Bent close behind. In the equivalent Girls U16/U14 event at Murrayfield, Abby Nisbet was T22, Ala Gorka and Lucy Morrison also played. The Lothians Boys at The Braid Hills has been postponed again due to fog. New dates TBA. ELJGL Players did fantastically well at the Scotland Final of the Faldo Series held at Bruntsfield ending 8th August. Overall results are here. Cammy Gallagher won the U18s Boys by 6 shots from Liam Currid, so Cammy is bound for Dubai on the 26th November for Grand Final. Well done! David Rudd was 4th in the U21s Boys. Joseph Cookson was an agonising 1 stroke behind the winner of the U16s Boys. The Boys’ Home Internationals have finished at Royal Dornoch. Connor Wilson of Castle Park was in the Team. Scoring here. The Scots won against Wales, after heavy defeats by England and Ireland. Connor picked up wins in both the foursomes and singles against Wales. Hannah Darling gained several points for Scotland at Ballybunion in the Home Internationals. Jamie Duguid of Dunbar was 2nd in the Lothians Mens Championship qualifying at Luffness with a score of 143 and was cut to +1. See article and draw here. Sadly, Jamie was beaten in the quarter finals. Fergus Brown of Craigielaw won the U12 section of the North of England U14 Boys Championship. Photo below. Carys Irvine of Craigielaw, scored a best of the day 62 on the Strathtyrum Course, and finished 7th in the 54 hole St Andrews Schoolgirls Championship. Mollaidh Nicholson finished 16th. In the 54-hole SGF U15s at Kingsknowe many of our League Players featured, especially Grace Crawford (North Berwick)and Lucy Hall (Craigmillar Park.) Grace won the Under 13 Scratch trophy showing the boys how it should be done with an excellent last round 74 for a total of 222 to win by 1 shot from Josh Beveridge. Lucy won the Under 15 Handicap trophy with a fantastic nett 63 in the final round to score 196, to win by 4 shots from Finlay King. All scores can be seen here. The Mens’ Scottish Amateur Championships is over. The League had 14 past or present Players attempting to qualify in the top 64 for the Match-play stages. Connor Wilson was 15th with a 2 round total of 142 at Blairgowrie, and both David Rudd and Connor O’Toole with 146 were inside the cut mark. In the Matchplay, all 3 Boys went out in the 1st round but Connor O’Toole only lost at the 21st to the top qualifier!
