Message from David Noon – “Quick update on the Sixes from North Berwick kids course today. Thanks to Ric Foulner for booking the course for us.
We had 3 full teams today West Links, Haddington and Gullane. The weather was excellent.
The points this week went in favour of the home team – West Links.
1. West Links – 139 pts
2. Haddington – 137 pts
3. Gullane – 134 pts
We used the first hole as a nearest the pin contest. This was won by Murray Bowsher (Haddington) who came within inches of having our first hole in one. The 8th hole was our other prize hole, we changed this slightly from a longest drive to a very long ‘nearest the green/pin’ this made the kids think about the shot a bit more. This was won by Lucy Thomas from Gullane who just rolled through the green. Excellent shot.
Our next event is at Gullane next Sunday, I will advise of times etc.
Thanks again to Lesley, Veronica and all the parent volunteers.”
“Golfsixes” events have been held this year at Musselburgh, Craigielaw and Haddington Golf Clubs. Some photos of the most recent event at Haddington are below. See this message from David Noon, GolfSixes co-ordinator. “On Sunday we had our 3rd Successful Sixes event, this time Haddington was the venue. While the weather may not have been ideal at the start of the games it did clear up to make it an enjoyable day for the kids. Thanks to Veronica and Lesley Nicholson for all there help ensuring the event went smoothly.
The results on the day were:-
1st – Gullane – 136 pts
2nd – West Links – 127 pts
3rd – Haddington – 123 pts
As well as our 6 holes scramble, we had a nearest the pin challenge which was won by Harris Munro (Haddington). We also tried a new challenge ‘Putting’. This proved a close contest with 2 players scoring 10 points with Lucy Thomas (Gullane) winning the prize on the better last 3 holes.
