The Players and Organisers at the first Match Day ever held at Castle Park were made very welcome by owners Craig and Pam Wilson. The preparatory help from Stuart Johnston, and the help from the Starters John Stewart and Jamie Macdonald was much appreciated, as was the assistance from Shona Paton of Gifford with the scoring. The day was compromised by the lack of so many Players competing in other events, and their absence meant that 5 Teams were unable to field the minimum of 4 Players, and dented their chances in the League. We hope such clashes will be avoided in future. As the yellow tees were in use by 2 Players, the CONGU handicap system allowed Boys from the white tees to receive 2 CHA extra strokes, whilst the Girls receive 4 extra strokes. Please remember that the scores for handicaps will not include these CHA strokes. The CSSs were all down 1 from the SSSs. So in terms of points, to equal the CSSs Players needed 37 from the Whites, 39 from the Yellows, and 35 from the Reds. One note of concern was the poor legibility, and mistakes, on the scorecards which delayed the scoring process.
Congratulations to Haddington for a great win in the Team event with 163 points, beating Kilspindie by 5 points and leaders Craigielaw by 10 points.
In future, cards will be rejected at scoring until both players (and Convenors) involved can rewrite the cards and make the figures for scores for both Players and Markers clear and easily legible. There will be a prize of a Masters ball marker for the Marker who completes the neatest, most legible card submitted without any need for amendments! Team and individual scores below. The League table is being updated.
