Thanks to all those who played at Haddington. The CSSs were U18/U16 Boys, 71 both AM and PM. U14 Boys 69, U12 Boys 68*, Girls 73*. (The small fields rule applies.) All Players are responsible for submitting their scores as "Away Scores." Convenors will be monitoring the correct submission of these and will be given the scorecards at the Strokeplay. All Players who were not present at the Prizegiving will be given their vouchers by the Secretary at a later date. REPORT AND PRIZEWINNERS FOLLOW AND SEE "ROLL OF HONOUR" UNDER "LEAGUE":- On a day of fine weather on Friday the 5th August, 50 Juniors from Golf Clubs in East Lothian were welcomed at Haddington for the annual Championships, which are generously supported by East Lothian Council. Councillor Tim Day, and Club President Gordon Blackie, were on hand to present prizes to the winners. The 50 Players were split into age groups Boys U18 and U16s, U14s, & U12s, and included 5 Girls. The 29 U18 and U16 Boys played 36 holes over the par 71 course to decide the Champion. One of the favourites, Lewis Reid, with a scratch handicap, of Craigielaw, scored 144, to win narrowly from 15 year old playing partners, 1 handicap Connor Wilson of Castle Park, who scored 145, and 2 handicap Cameron Gallagher of Longniddry, who scored 146. Finlay Goodlad of The Glen made a late charge in the afternoon with a 73 to finish third. Cameron was awarded the U16s scratch Championships, and William Ladbrooke of Gullane won the U16s handicap Championship. Jack Noon of Musselburgh, stormed in with the best pm round of 72. The outcome could not have been closer, as all 3 players were level playing the very hard 36th hole! Connor made a bogey 5, Cameron Gallacher made a par 4, but Lewis chipped in for a birdie 3 to win by the narrowest of margins! These boys could have a great future in golf - Lewis, in his last year as a Junior, will be playing in the British Boys Championship at Renaissance and Muirfield this week. Last week, Cameron won the Stephen Gallacher Foundation 54 hole U15s Championship at Bathgate by an incredible 10 shots, and in July, Connor was selected to represent Scotland in the European Young Masters in Switzerland. In the 36 hole handicap event, Jordan Chatt of Gullane, won with a net 137, 5 under par. He won by 5 shots from Ben Bathgate and Cameron Brown, both of Royal Musselburgh. The Girls scratch Champion is Shannon Young from Dunbar, now in her last year as a Junior, who also won in 2014. Shannon won the 18 hole event by only 2 strokes from 9 year old Grace Crawford, a name for the future for sure! Emma Chapman of Gullane was the leading U14 Girl and Mollaidh Nicholson of Kilspindie won the trophy for the best net score of 69, winning by 3 shots from Lucy Hall of Gullane. As 4 of the 5 (only!) Girls competing were in the U12 group, what has happened to all the older Girls in East Lothian who play? Hopefully, we will see you next year when the Championships are at Gullane! Shannon, together with William Ladbrooke and Finlay Goodlad, played in the Pro-Am at the recent Paul Lawrie Matchplay at Archerfield, with eventual third placed James Morrison. The U14 and U12 Boys also played 18 holes to decide their Champions. Jack McDonald of Musselburgh won the scratch trophy with a 78, winning narrowly from Sam Hall of The Glen, and Valdemar Hundeboll of Longniddry, who each scored 78. Angus Mather of North Berwick took the handicap trophy with a 67, winning by a single stroke from Ryan Yuill of Craigielaw. The U12s scratch Champion is Harry Bent of North Berwick, who scored 84, and as no Competitors can win more than 1 prize, the handicap trophy went to Jamie O’Connor of Gullane with a 68. So there were 8 happy trophy winners, and many other prize winners after a successful day. There are photographs of all the winners in the Gallery on the Home Page. Our thanks are due to the Officials and Staff at Haddington Golf Club for hosting, and for helping to run, this annual event. We hope the East Lothian Courier will publish results and some photos.

Clara Young, of North Berwick Golf Club, and a former ELJGL and Scottish Champion, has won the prestigious St Rule Trophy at St Andrews New and Old Courses with these sensational scores listed below. Report here. In the following week, Clara lost narrowly by 2 holes in the final of the Scottish Ladies Championship after coming from 5 down to all square with 3 holes to go. Report here. Great form shown by Clara resulting in her selection for the Scottish Team for the European Ladies Team Championships in Portugal in July. Well done Clara. Grant Forrest, another former ELJGL Player and Scottish Champion, had his highest finish on the Challenge Tour with a T4 place including a last round of 64 and we wish Grant success in his quest of a full European Tour card this year.
