How to register for the East Lothian Junior Golf League

Dear Players and Parents, if a young golfer is under the age of 18 years old at the commencement of the current year, (to be exact, if any Player’s 18th birthday is on the 1st of January, then they are classed as a Junior Golfer for the whole of that year,) and is a fully paid-up Junior Member of an East Lothian Golf Club which participates in the East Lothian Junior Golf League, (ELJGL) and they have a Golf Handicap of  28.4 for Boys, or 36.4 for Girls, or a golf handicap lower than these figures, then they are eligible to register with the League.

An exception might be made if a Junior’s handicap is just over these limits, but if they do play in our Competitions, they would be limited to the aforementioned handicaps. Once an eligible Junior is registered, they are entitled to represent and compete for their Club Teams, and also as Individuals, in the League’s “free to enter” events. These events can be seen on the front page of this website for the current season. There is also a Google Calendar on the website, which lists local and national Junior events. This has proved popular with the keenest Juniors, and their parents, as they can plan a golf programme for the year ahead. Provisional dates for League Match Days for 2026 are already listed there.

In order to register for the League, the first document required to be completed is the form Application to join the ELJGL. This form is compliant with the GDPR (General Data Processing Regulation.) There is also a Code of Conduct Form for Players, and a Code of Conduct Form for Parents etc. All three PDF forms can be opened and viewed by clicking on the links in the texts about the 3 forms listed below.

Access to the Application and GDPR form can be achieved by opening this link from where you will then view the form.

The viewer can then complete the information required in the blank text boxes. Note – after clicking on, and completing the text in any row on the GDPR form, please use your “tab” button (sometimes the single arrow pointing right) to move down to the next row, until the form is completed. The GDPR form must be completed and signed electronically by a Parent or Guardian of the Player.

The other two “Conduct” forms only require electronic signatures and dating. After reading the content, the viewer can again use the tab button to navigate through these sections, which will move firstly to “Name,” then to “Signed,” then to “Date.”

Access to the Code of Conduct for Juniors form is at this link. The form must be read together by the Player with a Parent etc, and must be electronically signed by both.

Access to the Code of Conduct for Parents etc form is at this link. This form must be electronically signed by a Parent/Guardian.

It would be appreciated if a Parent/Guardian completes all 3 forms on their device, saves them, then sends them, in a single email, from their own email address, to the League Secretary’s email address at the foot of the forms.  As a last resort, you can print off all 3 forms and post them to the League Secretary’s address which is at the foot of the form. (But this will increase the work involved in processing the forms.)

Should any Parents/Guardians wish to follow play in our events, our spectator guidelines are at this link.

It would be appreciated if you and your child also talk through the “Nine core values of Golf” which appear at this link on the website, and deal with “Honesty, Integrity etc, etc. It is vital that our young people adhere to these values when competing in golf competitions.

Dave Warren, League Secretary 17/9/25
